Coen's 18 month check-up
Yesterday was Coen's 18 month check-up at the doctor. Everything went well & he is still on track being a strong & healthy little boy. He got 2 shots in his leg but only cried for like 10 seconds. He's a trooper! He weighed 28 pounds 12 ounces putting him in the 85th percentile in weight & he was 34 1/2 in. long leaving him in the 95th percentile in height. He's going to be a tall kid as he gets older. I think we all knew he was going to be tall since he was 23 3/4 in. long at birth. When he's 12 he might be almost as tall as I am. I can only wish that the next 6 months go by a little slower because before we know it we will be celebrating his 2nd birthday.
Trying on mommy & daddy's shoes
This morning Coen thought it would be fun to sneak into our closet & pull mommy & daddy's shoes out. I was else where in the house when I noticed everything was quiet, which means little man is trying to get into to something. Then I heard some commotion which sounded like paper being balled up & sure enough this is where I found Coen, in our closet. I was able to get the camera & take a quick picture of him before he knew I was watching him. After pulling the shoes out he wanted to try them on. Here are pictures of Coen modeling our shoes.

The Piggy Bank
I recorded Coen putting money in his piggy bank. Listen to what he said when I asked him if he was going to save his money. Silly Boy!
Coen's big boy bed
Over the weekend Coen got a new bed. Well, it's not new but it's new to Coen. A while back Coen fell out of his crib because he could climb up enough & lean out which resulted in him falling to the floor. So, we ended up taking out the bumpers & turning the crib around since the back end was higher than the front end. That worked because the crib railing then came to his neck. So, we knew he couldn't escape then. The only thing with turning the crib around backwards was that it was hard getting him laid down if he was already a sleep because the mattress was not in arms reach. So, Coen is already in a big boy bed & he has done great with it so far. Our first thoughts about it was that he would get out of bed & play when it was night-night time. So far he has yet to try & get out. He looks so comfy & so little sleeping in his new bed & seems to like it. I still can't believe that there is no more crib. Every time we turn around he's growing up on us.

My first fondant cake
This is a cake I made for my grandmother's birthday. I had been wanting to do a cake using fondant so I finally tried it out. Now I know why fondant cakes are so expensive, it takes a lot of time to kneed it, color it, roll it, cut it & cover the cake with it. Hopefully I will get the time to make another one soon.

At the lake
Over the July 4th weekend we spent a day at the lake. Coen loves to be in the water as this was his first time in the lake. I guess he was excited to get in the water that he just jumped right in. Don't be worried, he had his life jacket on & Jonathan caught him. I'm glad to see that Coen's not afraid of the water.
