Old Salem
This past Sunday one of my neighbors who does graphic design and photography on the side, took some fall pictures of Coen at Old Salem. Coen normally hates getting his picture taken but this time I had brought a distraction for him to play with, a football. The football entertained him and made for great pictures. Lindsay, the photographer, did a great job & took over 300 photos. Here are some of my favorite ones.

Blowing Rock & Tweetsie Railroad
Over the weekend we took a family trip to the mountains & stayed in Blowing Rock. The weather was beautiful and everybody had a great time together. I really enjoyed the cool crisp mountain air. Saturday we did some shopping & Sunday we went to Tweetsie Railroad. Coen had a great time at Tweetsie & he enjoyed the train ride. He never once got scared of the loud locomotive sound or the cowboy's & Indians. One of the cowboy's greeted us on the train but Coen wouldn't shake his hand. Jonathan & I are already thinking about going back by our self for a relaxing weekend & doing some Christmas shopping.

The Pacifier blues!
So for those of you that don't know, Coen is very attached to his paci. His teacher at daycare has worked really hard from breaking him of it. He does well with not having it while he's at daycare or baby school as I call it. The only problem we have is when he comes home in the evening's or on the weekends, he thinks he has to have it until the next day at school. He pretty much stops talking when he has it in his mouth so we are wanting to break him of it for GOOD. Tuesday night at bed time we decided that the paci had to go & we didn't allow him to have it. Let's just say, I'm glad that night is over. He cried, screamed and kicked in bed for a solid hour. Jonathan & I laid in bed with him for that hour to try & comfort him but he wasn't a happy little boy. It broke my heart to watch him cry for an hour but he finally calmed down and fell asleep with his blanket & his watch guards. That would be Calvin the giraffe & Shelly the turtle. He sleeps with them every night.
Coen has now gone 3 whole days without his pacifier. The only time he has cried for it was the very first night and the morning after. He has whined for it just a little bit but other than that he has done so good. Even though it has only been 3 days & he could possibly have another break down, I just want to say how proud I am of him in becoming a big boy. We tell him that big boys don't need paci's. So now he calls himself "big boy". He just melts my heart & I LOVE him so much. We are so proud to be called mommy and daddy. It's the greatest feeling ever.
