Coen's first hair cut

Over the Labor Day weekend we took Coen to have his first official hair cut. I had trimmed his hair in the past but only around his ears & the very bottom at his neck. It was time to leave it up to the professionals. He did so well while the young girl cut his hair. He just sat in my lap like a big boy. We ended up going to Great Clips & they got us in & out very quickly. Coen's tension span is not very long. He likes to be moving at all times. Here are the pictures.

The Fresh Beat Band!

There's a new show on Nickelodeon called The Fresh Beat Band. It seems to be Coen's favorite show now. When ever it comes on Coen stops what he is doing & starts dancing. We have it set to record everyday & he gets to watch it right before bedtime. It's a cool show for kids with lots of singing & dancing. Even Jonathan & I seem to get into the show as we watch with Coen. Here is a video of Coen dancing along with Marina, Kiki, Shout & Twist from The Fresh Beat Band.....haha! We must watch it a lot, as you see I knew all of there names on the show.

Go Coen, Go Coen!

He did it again, he peed in the potty before bath time tonight. We could be on to something....yay!

Potty Training!

About two months ago we decided to go ahead and buy a potty for Coen. We knew it was probably to soon to start potty training but thought we would get him use to seeing it. So every night before his bath I would make him sit on it. At the beginning of this process he thought it was something to take apart or carry around. After letting Coen watch us use the bathroom he eventually got the concept of just sitting on it without wanting to play with it. Well tonight was the night. He sat down on the potty before his bath & peed in it. Yay! We praised him so much for using the potty. He got excited about it. After all the cheering we emptied it into the big toilet & let Coen flush it. Maybe this is the beginning of him showing interest in learning to potty train. This could be a great thing if he could be potty trained before he turns two. It's probably wishful thinking but you never know. Here is a picture of Coen sitting on his potty after his bath.

Saying new things

Coen is talking up a storm these days. He says new words everyday. He is starting to put words together with each other like more watie (water). He said some new words tonight we have never heard him say before. Just a few minutes ago he took Jonathan to Duke's pee pad, pointed at it & said, Duke poop. It was so funny. I'm eager to hear what his next word or words will be.

Duke's dog bone

This evening when I got home from work, the first thing Jonathan told me, was that Coen had eaten a part of Duke's dog bone. Yuck! Apparently when Jonathan feed Duke, Coen got a hold of the dog bone & decided to try it out for himself. So now I know what Coen was chewing on when he met me at the door. Obviously he likes the taste of Pro Plan dog food...haha! Oh well, it want hurt him but the thought of him eating it is gross. I did get a good laugh out if it & thought I would share the story.

Cakes

Here are two pictures of the latest cakes I have made. The basket weave cake was the final cake I made in the last class I took & the weight lifting theme cake was for a paying customer.

Basket Weave w/ royal icing flowers

I had so much fun decorating this cake. By far my favorite I have done.

To darn cute!

Coen & I were being silly at bath time tonight. He's getting a lot of hair now & I gave him a really long mohawk. Here are a few of the pictures from tonight.

Yeah, I know I'm cute!

All I have to say is "water" & he takes off to the tub, he loves bath time.

Coen has a lot of facial expressions & we call this one"sneaky snake". This is the look we get when he's about to do something he probably shouldn't, like throw a cup of water out of the tub.

Coen's 18 month check-up

Yesterday was Coen's 18 month check-up at the doctor. Everything went well & he is still on track being a strong & healthy little boy. He got 2 shots in his leg but only cried for like 10 seconds. He's a trooper! He weighed 28 pounds 12 ounces putting him in the 85th percentile in weight & he was 34 1/2 in. long leaving him in the 95th percentile in height. He's going to be a tall kid as he gets older. I think we all knew he was going to be tall since he was 23 3/4 in. long at birth. When he's 12 he might be almost as tall as I am. I can only wish that the next 6 months go by a little slower because before we know it we will be celebrating his 2nd birthday.

Trying on mommy & daddy's shoes

This morning Coen thought it would be fun to sneak into our closet & pull mommy & daddy's shoes out. I was else where in the house when I noticed everything was quiet, which means little man is trying to get into to something. Then I heard some commotion which sounded like paper being balled up & sure enough this is where I found Coen, in our closet. I was able to get the camera & take a quick picture of him before he knew I was watching him. After pulling the shoes out he wanted to try them on. Here are pictures of Coen modeling our shoes.
